The Challenge

In 2018, Land O’ Frost was looking to launch an innovative high-protein chip in a brand-new category.

With zero awareness, Land O’Frost turned to VCG to ensure the product was visible between the jerky and protein snacks categories, specifically on Amazon. This was the first time Land O’Frost had worked with Amazon, so they were also in need of consultation across their internal operations, inventory and sales teams in order to become integrated and compliant.

The Solution

Prior to launch, Velocity consulted Land O’Frost on important go-to-market decisions – analyzing internal capabilities and determining a 3rd party seller fulfillment model was necessary.

We consulted on key business and product decisions including:

  • Packaging optimization to ensure minimal storage, fulfillment and shipping costs
  • Cost analysis to ensure maximum profitability
  • Inventory forecasting based on marketing activity and Amazon demand
  • Integration and education within their operational departments to ensure appropriate backend fulfillment, labeling, packaging, etc.

We ensured the brand was retail-ready to drive organic and paid traffic with optimized product detail page content, copy and a Brand Store. We fully manage the Seller Central account on a daily basis with a strong focus on inventory management, customer service response, content optimizations and Amazon Search campaign management.

The Results

From launch, the top-selling Gone Rogue variety 4-pack was the #1 Hot New Release product in the Jerky & Dried meats category for over 3 weeks.

The brand has seen steady growth in sales and awareness each month since launching in September 2018. We continue to make content optimizations, AMS campaign improvements and test product category selection to ensure the highest visibility and traffic possible.
